Reserve Pinotage 2013
The Story:
Pinotage, a cross between Pinot Noir & Cinsaut (Hermitage), is the signature variety in South Africa, so what is it doing in the Flat Creek Estate portfolio? The grapes for this wine were sourced from Sierra Ridge Vineyards where owner John Bree is credited with bringing Pinotage to the United States. When John offered a small amount of Pinotage, we were delighted & think you will be too. This limited release wine exhibits great varietal character & should age beautifully.
The Tasting Notes:
Our 2013 Pinotage is a bold, full bodied wine with supple tannins and a slightly spicy finish. The nose is highlighted by notes of blueberries and bramble before revealing the core of mocha and bannana that's the signature of this variety. The broad mid-palate reinforces the nose and adds layers of Bing cherries and cassis before slipping into a long finish with hints of toasted vanilla. This is our last vintage of Pinotage! Fill your cellar with this exceptional wine!
